Privacy Policy
Effective date: 25 May 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Pawel Turczyk ("we", "us", "our")
collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the Chess
Revision mobile application (the "App").
1. Information we collect
The App is designed to collect as little data as possible.
-
Account and subscription data. If you purchase a
subscription, Apple's App Store processes the transaction and shares
with us only the receipt necessary to validate your entitlement.
Subscription state is managed by RevenueCat, which assigns the App
an anonymous identifier. We do not learn your real name, email
address, or payment details from Apple.
-
Game content you provide. When you import a game
via PGN paste, board photo, or by entering a Lichess or Chess.com
username, that content is sent to our analysis backend for engine
evaluation. The content is processed in memory and is not retained
beyond the duration of the analysis request.
-
Diagnostic data. We collect anonymous performance
and crash data (e.g. request timing, error codes) to keep the App
running reliably. Diagnostic data does not contain any personally
identifying information.
-
On-device storage. Your imported games, settings,
and saved positions are stored locally on your device using the
App's database. This data never leaves your device unless you
explicitly share it.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the core analysis and review features of the App.
- To validate and manage your subscription entitlement.
- To investigate bugs and improve performance.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for
advertising. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
3. Third parties
-
Apple. Subscription purchases are processed by
Apple under
Apple's Privacy Policy.
-
RevenueCat. We use RevenueCat to manage
subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives an anonymous
subscriber identifier and your Apple subscription receipt. See
RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
-
Amazon Web Services. Our analysis backend runs on
AWS Lambda. Game positions you submit for analysis are processed by
AWS in memory and are not persisted by us beyond the request.
-
Lichess and Chess.com. If you choose to import
games by username, the App calls the public APIs of Lichess.org and
Chess.com. Use of those services is governed by their own terms and
privacy policies.
4. Data retention
We do not store game content on our servers. On-device data persists
until you delete the App or clear it from within the App.
Subscription receipts are retained for as long as required by Apple
and applicable accounting law.
5. Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the
right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you,
to object to processing, and to data portability. Because we do not
hold personally identifying information beyond your anonymous
subscription identifier, these rights are exercised in practice by
cancelling your subscription and deleting the App. To make a formal
request, email us at the address below.
6. Children's privacy
The App is rated for users aged 4 and over. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe
a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we
will delete it.
7. International data transfers
The App's backend services are hosted in the European Union. If you
use the App from outside the EU, your data may be transferred to and
processed in the EU, which provides an adequate level of data
protection under GDPR.
8. Security
All network traffic between the App and our backend is encrypted in
transit using TLS. On-device data is stored within the App's
protected container as managed by iOS.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be
reflected in the Effective date above and announced in the App. Your
continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the
revised policy.
